Springing back into the wild world of wonder and acrylic washes. Woohoo.

Happy Monday-Hooray...

I must say...it is quite, quite nice being home, although the hospital is wonderful for when you need it.  Luckily, you have yourself wherever you go.  Even better, I brought some art supplies and wedding magazines.  And the best part was my amazing family who has been with me through thick and thin, now with the most phenomenal fiance joining the crew - this girl is unstoppable!  But never without the strongest tapestry of support ever known to mankind...

The Important Stuff..

I am utterly, completely in awe of my body and how it has stayed so strong externally and internally throughout all of these years.  We only have one, and it is part of the earth, it connects us to everything around us, and inside of us - all of those intricate microorganism connections - all those little parts of every cell in our bodies?  Flabbergasting to think about...

Anyway, I wanted to share with you this song that I recorded a few years back - it was written by the wonderful cabaret singer and writer Amanda McBroom and it's called Ship In A Bottle - the lyrics are simple gorgeous...take a listen to me singing it!

Ship In A Bottle (recorded by ME)

Coming Home To Spring...
It felt so wonderful to leave the hospital, breathe the fresh April air, pack all my art supplies up and head back into the real world again.  My beautiful fiance was waiting for me at home with seeds we had purchased a while ago and we started planting in our little planter!  He's got the green thumb, I've got the sharpies for fun little doodles...

Lots of fun herbs, flowers, fruits, vegetables - a spring FEAST!!!

And now, in the real studio!!!

It was wonderful to be back at home again, and Brandon and I certainly had our art-a-thon there - six hours yesterday, just finishing up some old pieces, starting a few new ones, adding some final touched to what I had done in the hospital...
My "Hospital Studio"
Then at home I did things a bit more...Amy-style shall we say...

My trees were with me the whole time, of course...
It was a lovely night.  Brandon worked on his USS Arizona Ship Sculpture, my brother read the three-act play I'm currently working on (You'll hear more about that later!), and I felt home with the people I love.

I added a little beach scene to this one

Not done yet, but for me and Brandon on spackle...
Into the week, into the world we go.
Well folks there you have it.
From the hospital...
To the garden...
 To the studio...

To be back with those I love...

AND THAT IS SOMETHING TO CELEBRATE!!!!
“To see a World in a Grain of Sand
And a Heaven in a Wild Flower,
Hold Infinity in the palm of your hand
And Eternity in an hour.”

  7. Wow, seeing this has brought back so many memories for me! I planned some of my wedding from a hospital bed. Our lives are quite similar from our interests to spending time in hospital. I love your art work and what a great idea to have the studio at your bed! All the very best. Hannah.xx
