Messes to be made when the time is right - but there's always time for ZOODLES!

Hey There Thursday!

"The tree which moves some to tears of joy is in the eyes of others only a green thing that stands in the way.  Some see Nature all ridicule and deformity, and some scarce see Nature at all.  But to the eyes of the man of imagination, Nature is Imagination itself."-  William Blake, 1799, The Letters
Almost to the end of the week and a bit of a chilly day today.  But warm zoodles cookin' on the stove...some hot glue-gunnin' in the studio...
We keep it red-hot with creativity :)
I guest-posted a Yummy RECIPE!!!!
I want to thank Kim from the awesome blog proteanmom.com for featuring my Zoodles recipe on her site today!  Check it out - it's an awesome recipe if you have a craving for some seasonal veggies with a pasta-like feel - Zoodles Stroganoff!

Selling art!
A little teaser that I am getting ready to start selling a few things on my website amyoes.com - prints of my art, greeting cards, coasters, etc.  So, I'd love to hear from you all what you'd like to see featured on my site to purchase!  Anything in my artist's gallery (more photos are being uploaded) would be wonderful on cards, postcards, bookmarks, calendars, etc. but it's all about what you folks would like, so please do speak up!
Coasters, anyone?

In the Studio...

The Gallery at the Discovery Museum
I am getting ready to hang my paintings at the Discovery Museum, where they are requiring some larger works - I am actually having some huge canvases delivered by trucks this afternoon believe it or not!  So today was a good day to start prepping some larger backgrounds...

 Tangled Angel...
I finished this piece, but honestly, not so sure my heart was in it.  Sometimes, you just don't feel like creating.  I didn't want to leave it undone, so I just finished it.  Which was probably not the best decision.  But the great thing about art is that I can always come back to it another time, when the time is right.
This was where I had left her yesterday - I'm just not sure that I did too much...

Perhaps because I do have so much on my mind now - my health, my work, wedding, etc. and now it's getting nicer outside - I think with the change in seasons, it's always a good time to reevaluate our routine as well.  What are we just doing by rote, or out of habit?  What do we really want at this moment - what is our heart telling us?

I do know that last night my heart told me to finally pick up the lamp-post for my painted lamp-shade at Wal-Mart - so that's all done!  I thought I could embellish the post with fabric, spackle, etc., but figured it might not be the best idea with a light-bulb and all..

Artistic New Directions...
Presenting my final portfolio at Hampshire College yesterday, I received some really valuable feedback.  It was pointed out that sculpture is a great new medium for me because it will give some room for all of my complex ideas to breathe and expand, rather than be completely compressed onto the canvas.  So now I am truly wanting to learn more sculpture techniques - paper mache, welding, woodworking - anything!  I actually went to home goods to get some more inspiration...
Who knows - once I have the tools and techniques, I could make an entire mixed-media Amy Galaxy!!!  To be continued...

And because I like to google, I also found these 10 Contemporary Artists Who Use Furniture as a Medium
Hmmm....

Before I go...

I thought this was a great article:  10 Inspirational Books that Have Changed My Life

So there you have it - go make some zoodles tonight - they are SO good and perfect on a day like this!  And create if you want, and if you don't want to, that's perfectly okay.  There seems to be a time for everything.  A time for healing, change, art, non-art, zoodles, and time to go and get outside already!!
"Life without love is like a tree without blossom and fruit."-   Khalil Gibran
There are plenty of messes to be made...just when the time is right.

  4. I always wished I was good at art. My husbands mother enjoyed painting and taught him to paint growing up, but I am not as artistic. I hate to say it but I always dread the nights that he asks to paint together. My work just ends up looking like a 5 year old did it.
