Deep grounded strength in our roots, joyful wind in our dancing leaves...

FRIDAY!!!
(and it feels like MAY finally!)

A Craft Guest Post!
I want to thank Erica from the lovely blog Healthy Family Matters for featuring my guest post today on making a dream pillow.  It's a great little Mother's Day kid-friendly craft that you can check out HERE!  Thanks again Erica!

In The Studio...
I guess I finally jumped on the bandwagon and did some Spring cleaning - because my studio really needed it...
Before...(and that's on a GOOD day!)
After - hey look at that!

And I guess I'll be on a tree-painting spree for a while, just because they are all so stunning right now, as their little flower buds start to open up and the sun casts shadows on all that spectacular bark.
Every curve of each boldly dancing trunk reminds me of a different dancer's pose...
So from the background I made yesterday, I started this happy dancing tree:
If you did some "Amy Math"  I would say it is "Singing Tree" + "Dancing Girl" - two of my favorites
+=  (That's Amy-Math right there...)

Then I was feeling ambitious and took on that other background I was working on yesterday - it looked a lot better once it was dry!
And this is what I did so far - (both paintings are not done yet!  I'm just practicing being okay with not finishing my work all at once...deep breaths...you can do it Amy...)

I think it's healthy anyway to step away and come back to a painting.  I'm in no rush to finish this, and maybe when I come back to it I'll have a better idea of what these trees are communicating.  Then I'll be able to fill on the rest :)  (But not too much because I'm trying to learn simplicity...sort of.)

Speaking of communicating trees...
I love to imagine the conversations going on between branches that hang over the road...

Spring = planting time...
I went to a garden store yesterday and saw the most lovely flowers - calla lilies, canterbury bells...the colors were just gorgeous!

And I'm not sure what this plant is, but I got very amused thinking about how much these little buds look like people, no?

So many canvases to finish off...
But I'm trying to get out a bit and enjoy the season too!  Still trying to work on that "balance" thing...any thoughts?

Before I go...
A brief post for this Friday due to the amazing weather and a Yankee game I'm off to...

But I thought for this Friday I'd leave you with some..."inspiration"...

Or if you'd like something a bit more...uplifting...listen to this beautiful song by Idia Arie called "I Am Light" HERE!

Have a great weekend!

  1. I really like the one where it looks like the two trees are running around together. I know you said you had to step away for a bit to try and figure out what you want it to communicate but I see it as maybe they're on an adventure
