Wild Geese
You do not have to be good.
You do not have to walk on your knees
for a hundred miles through the desert, repenting.
You only have to let the soft animal of your body
love what it loves.
Tell me about despair, yours, and I will tell you mine.
Meanwhile the world goes on.
Meanwhile the sun and the clear pebbles of the rain
are moving across the landscapes,
over the prairies and the deep trees,
the mountains and the rivers.
Meanwhile the wild gees, high in the clean blue air,
are heading home again.
Whoever you are, no matter how lonely,
the world offers itself to your imagination,
calls to you like the wild geese, harsh and exciting-
over and over announcing your place
in the family of things.

I thought it was very nice. I've also been experimenting with pastels lately. I haven't finished it yet, but I started a simple still life of art supplies:
This is what I've got so far:It's gotten difficult to be in the kitchen lately because my hunger pangs have been going through the roof. However, I did end up making croissants and danishes for my family - which they loved.
Making croissants might be the most labor-intensive thing I've ever done in the kitchen. I'm not recommending trying these at home folks. They are quite a chore!
Yup. This is me getting chased by wild turkeys on my morning walk... |
I am hoping that this waiting-period will be relatively short. But my medical history doesn't take two seconds to review! I'm quite a complicated case, but I am hoping that the right surgeon will come along SOON and I will be able to eat...by the end of the summer...please!!!!
