Flowers who sing and trees who cry...

Happy Sunday folks :)

Nothing is impossible, the word itself says 'I'm possible'! - Audrey Hepburn
And on that note - may this Sunday be an open-ended trail of possibilities for you all!
My Artist's Talk:

I finally was able to upload the talk I gave about my art last weekend.  This is the talk I gave at my artist's reception at Ridgefield's Tusk & Cup Fine Coffee.

You can watch it on youtube at this link.

I describe my artistic intentions as well as my own personal saga, and how art enabled me to transform trauma and crises in a beautiful detour.  It was a great night and it meant so much to me that so many friends, loved ones and total strangers came.  I look forward to my next shows coming up!  My work is currently part of the "Pairings" Exhibit, will be in the "Resilience" Arts Immersion Salon on May 31st, and a few more gallery dates coming up - so stay tuned!

In the Studio:

"To me a lush carpet of pine needles or spongy grass is more welcome than the most luxurious Persian rug."
- Helen Keller

This morning I took out a background I made a few days ago.
Lots of fun textures in this one :)

I decided to  bring out my favorite tree couple today:
Here they are!
Yesterday I went to Home Depot to search for any new gadgets or tools that may give my art a new direction, or just some different inspiration today.  I got some gritty sandpaper, screws, paint chip samples, etc. so I put some of those fun doodads to use.
Spackle paint, wood finish, nails...well if I don't end up using everything, I can always build a house!

So this is the finished product (almost four hours later!)
I do like how this came out.

Honestly, my favorite part is that I made my "singing flowers..."
Sort of a throwback to my "Singing Tree"!
The big wide open grin on this tree's face just makes me giddy.
Snoopy & Woodstock have the right idea too!
Anyway, this just makes me happy.  I'm not sure if it's too busy or not, but I don't care - it's me and it's fun.  And my flowers are singing, so I'm happy.  It's funny though, I just don't feel satisfied when a painting unless I can add several tear drops in - in this one, even the sun is shedding aa gold tear.  But I always have happiness, music, beauty, nature, birds flight - maybe that is my continuing goal to always embrace life's pleasure and pain side by side.  That is what gives my life fullness.

Out of my studio...but still in a studio.

On another note, I went to my friend's bridal shower last night at Painting With A Twist.  I'm not the greatest at following directions - with are or with anything else for that matter...
Hmmm...which of these paintings is not like the other?
We were celebrating my good friend Colleen's upcoming wedding - two weeks after mine, actually!
It was still a fun night though.  And a great idea for a get together with some friends.

Before I go...

This is an incredibly inspiring song - give it a listen with you can.  I literally burst into tears when I heard it - I Am Light by India Arie.

And these look great:  Decadent twists on Deep Dish Pizza!
Last, it's Sunday, so lighten up.  I want all of these by the way:  32 Impossibly Fun Gifts For Kids That Even Adults Will Want

Enjoy today!!!!!
